EKOMEDIANA-2010 AD (the Company) is a Joint Stock Company of non-profitable character and has been founded in 2010 by the biggest tire importers in Bulgaria - DIANA Ltd and MEDINA MED Ltd.Based on the existing legislative framework the Company was in first to get a license to create a collective system of alternative management of ELT.That system consists of tires producers and importers who are responsible of the collection of ELT, their temporary storage, transportation and utilization according to law. The Company already has joined the majority of tire importers in Bulgaria including DIANA Ltd, MEDINA MED Ltd, BRIDGESTONE Romania SRL-branch Bulgaria, МICHELIN Romania SRL (Michelin Fleet Solutions), KAMA BALKAN and many others. Thus our system is dealing with the separate collection and management of more than 50% of ELT in Bulgaria. ACTIVITY: The Company already practices alternative management including initially the collection of used tires from more than 60 collection points throughout the country, temporary storage and transportation to processing and recovery plants. The final recovery is made in an environmentally acceptable manner in a certified facility. Our main objectives on tires aim to promote the recovery of used tyres; the recovery target for 2017 is minimum 65% of the new tires introduced on the market; promote the alternative use of tires; minimize the quantities that are disposed of. The Company is reporting every year towards the national Environment Authority about the fulfilling of obligations of its members with regard of tire recovery target. The Company's subcontractor Ecomediana Recycling Ltd operates its own tire recycling plant situated near Stara Zagora town. The plant was equipped with machinery produced, delivered and installed by Eldan Recycling A/S - Denmark. The plant is capable to process 16 000 tons of ELT annually. Our ambition is to realize a five years program aiming to arise our part on the market of ELT up to 52%.
