Kafunta Safaris is an owner run safari company operating in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia since 1998. Owners Ron & Anke Cowan have operated for more than 20 years in the Zambian safari industry and their experience and attention to detail enables them to provide an ultimate wilderness safari for their clients. Kafunta operates three camps - @ Kafunta River Lodge: a safari lodge offering the best value @ Island Bush Camp: a real wilderness experience @ Three Rivers Camp: a sophisticated tented camp on the Luangwa River Kafunta River Lodge (renovated in 2019) is set in the riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River and overlooks a game-rich floodplain and the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. The camp offers Kafunta's clients deluxe comfort whilst being situated in unspoilt wilderness that surrounds the lodge. The outstanding safari guides take you into the park on game drives or bush walks where the central location in the Luangwa Valley allows clients to explore the whole region with ease. Island Bush Camp lies under a grove of mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa River in the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. This small bush camp offers rustic accommodation in grass and reed huts build on stilts that ensure safety from wild animals and provide an unlimited view of the Luangwa River. The emphasis of the camp is walking safaris and the real African bush experience. Three Rivers Camp is tucked away under the shade of Sausage trees, between the river and a game-rich lagoon. The camp is at the edge of the National Park, at a walking distance from sister camp Island Bush Camp, and offers game drives as well as bush walks. The camps features 5 sophisticated spacious tents decorated with an earthy feel and natural materials. And each tent has its own star bed on an elevated platform!
