Agentic Learning

Agentic Learning is a new company formed by Dr. Michael Gielniak and Marie Bjerede to address the fundamental issues underlying the lack of academic improvement and scalability of school reform initiatives. We have found that that poor success rates can be attributed to a lack of understanding in three areas: Human cognition, human motivation, and human systems. We have also found through our work with other organizations that a system of continuous improvement is an essential element for success. Furthermore, for deep levels of learning to take place, learners must have the power to influence their goals and the strategies to achieve them. The process requires serious reflection, and when coupled with the proper environment, guidance, and support, leads to student ownership and deeper learning. We have created an app called REFLECT that is used as part of the continuous improvement process. REFLECT supports teachers in their efforts to create an agentic learning environment, and provides conveniently dashboarded data that is used to inform the teacher's learning process as they begin their agentic journey. The data can also be aggregated in a number of ways to provide valuable information to principals and central office administrators. When combined with our Consulting and Agentic Leadership Training, districts can be transformed from systems of compliant to thriving and continuously improving learning organizations.
