At Akola, with every piece of jewelry sold, a woman's life changes and her family is transformed. AKOLA is on a mission to empower women to transform their lives and communities. AKOLA's manufacturing operations are based in Jinja, Uganda — a beautiful city right on the Nile River. There, nearly 200 AKOLA women, largely from rural communities, are given dignified employment and living wages. Our bold, layered pieces are all handcrafted by these women using local, high quality materials. AKOLA's vision is to create a female empowered workforce that will be a strong contributor to Africa's economic development.   We are female- founded, female-led, and female-focused.
