Activate what makes us human. There is something magical about light. With light we want to activate people's feelings and visions. Our ability to feel, to imagine and to change. In what light do you see life? That's the question we ask. Founded by Tobias Grau in 1986, the company began a transformation process in 2020, including handover to new CEOs, Timon Grau and Melchior Grau. The brothers are leading a comprehensive rebrand and restructure, informed by their artistic practice and incorporating a new visual communication as well as internal processes combining collaborative development with New Work philosophy. "Activate what makes us human" will be the GRAU brand's mission. "Our goal is to use light to activate what makes us human. Our ability to feel, to think, to imagine, to question and to change something again – that's what makes us human," the brothers explain. GRAU focusses a collection of emotional, personal products and smart processes. At the intersection of art and business, GRAU also appears with exhibitions, installations and sculptural work. The company will continue to be based at its Hamburg headquarters, where it employs an interdisciplinary and diverse team of 150 people.
