After establishing the first rehabilitation hospital in 1937 in Texas, The Post Acute / Warm Springs System has provided the healing touch to thousands of patients recovering from accidents, injury and illness. Today, more than 70 years since its founding to treat children and adults during the polio epidemic of the 1930's and 40's, The Post Acute Medical / Warm Springs System has led the way and kept abreast of the changing rehabilitation needs of patients. Part of that change was to expand into the specialty hospital market, (long term acute care hospital, LTACH) providing focused care for the medically complex patient for Ventilator Weaning, Wound Care, Multi-System failure and medical issues requiring critical care expertise.
