Čitaj mi!/Read to me!

"Read to me!" is the first Croatian national campaign promoting reading aloud to children from the earliest age. It is organized by the Croatian Reading Association, Croatian Library Association - Children and Youth Services Commission, Croatian Paediatric Society, Croatian Association of Researchers in Children's Literature with support of UNICEF. The campaign was launched with the aim to continuously promote early literacy and reading in families over the next few years and to make reading aloud a part of daily routine in Croatian families with small children. Also, campaign's aims are to make library services for babies and small children a part of regular services in public libraries and to intensify cooperation between librarians, pediatricians, speech therapists and other field experts in early reading aloud promotion. The value of the campaign "Read to me!" is based on synergy and partnership of several professional associations that collaborate, share information and ideas to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the campaign. Teamwork and innovative approach, the concept of unity and cooperation among organizations is based on accountability, decision-making and volunteering. [In Croatian] "Čitaj mi!" prva je nacionalna kampanja za promicanje čitanja naglas djeci od rođenja. Organizatori su Hrvatsko knjižničarsko društvo - Komisija za knjižnične usluge za djecu i mladež, UNICEF, Hrvatsko pedijatrijsko društvo, Hrvatsko čitateljsko društvo, Hrvatska udruga istraživača dječje književnosti, Hrvatsko logopedsko društvo. Cilj kampanje je poticati roditelje i druge odrasle da s čitanjem naglas djetetu započnu već od njegova rođenja i da s najmlađom djecom što prije počnu dolaziti u lokalnu narodnu knjižnicu.
