The Borrego Valley Endowment Fund is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization operating in the Borrego Valley in Southeastern California. The Fund was created in 1996 by the Borrego Community Health Foundation and was named the Borrego Community Health Society. Initially, it served as the fund gathering organization inside the Foundation. In 2002 the Borrego Community Health Foundation and the Borrego Community Health Society created separate boards of directors. From 2002 to 2014, the primary role of the Borrego Community Health Society was to promote and provide healthcare in the Borrego Valley. In 2015 the Borrego Community Health Society changed its name to Borrego Valley Endowment Fund. The mission of the Borrego Valley Endowment Fund is to harness the power of philanthropy to create enduring community-wide benefits for the Borrego region. The Fund currently manages a 7+ million dollar portfolio. Although still focused on health care initiatives, the Fund has broadened its efforts to facilitate philanthropy in eight additional focus areas that are of critical importance to the community: Healthcare, children, seniors, education, community development, water availability, air quality, governance, and biodiversity.
