Lab-x Foundation is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization that organizes competitions, challenges, workshops, and internship opportunities for students in developing countries to encourage research, innovation and entrepreneurship. In countries such as India, with more than 1 million engineering students, less than 0.1% get exposure to cutting-edge technology and education. Of the 1000+ engineering schools, only a handful provide hands-on experience, internships, and exposure to world-class technology. There is a tremendous lack of entrepreneurial effort and R&D to build a robust high-tech environment. Less than one in a thousand students chooses research, mostly abroad, and few return to be innovators, leaders, and mentors for the next generation. Lab‑X aims to provide resources for talented and motivated students for research, innovation, and entrepreneurial endeavors. Lab‑X collaborates with companies, national labs, and universities in the US and Europe to sponsor incentive based challenges, competitions, and internships. Intern Me, one of our pilot projects, gives top students the opportunity to work for startups, national labs, and universities in the US and take the experience back to their home countries.
