Heron Foods is a limited range value grocery retailer. We trade in local neighbourhoods and centres and are proud of our association with the communities we serve. The majority of our store portfolio is made up of small to medium sized units, most of which open long, flexible hours. Our mission statement is, ‘Heron Foods are committed to providing top quality food products at the lowest possible prices every day in every store.' Heron Foods opened our first store in 1979 on Holderness Road in Hull and it proved to be an immediate success with local people, so much so that further stores were opened in quick succession throughout Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and then further afield in Lincolnshire, South and North Yorkshire, and the Midlands. The company employs over 3,500 people within its stores and at its Store Support Centre in Melton, near Hull. In 2017, Heron Foods bucked industry trends by opening 14 new stores and trades from a total of more than 255 stores. In 2017, the company joined forces with B&M European Value Retail S.A. ("B&M"​), the UK's leading multi-price value retailer. The company's dedicated team of colleagues are always on hand to help customers track down any one of the hundreds of bargains in every one of their stores. Heron Foods has one of the largest and fastest changing ranges of discounted foods of any supermarket chain in the UK. Heron Foods has a large distribution centre in Melton, near Hull with capacity for further expansion as the company grows. The company can also boast a flexible logistics infrastructure with a modern fleet of 35 HGVs.
