The company pioneered the first paint plant in Japan. There was a rapid relocation of manufacturing facilities overseas in the latter half of the 20th century and this is expected to grow in the 21st century as well. Nippon Paint took its first step toward globalization when it set up a Singapore joint venture in 1962.
