Staatstheater Nürnberg

The Staatstheater Nürnberg Foundation, funded equally by the City of Nuremberg and the Free State of Bavaria, is Bavaria's largest multi-genre theatre, with over 730 events in music theatre, spoken theatre, ballet and concerts per season, reaching over 290,000 visitors. The Staatstheater Nürnberg has a highly qualified staff of around 650 permanent employees. This includes the five permanent ensembles (orchestra, opera ensemble, opera choir, ballet ensemble, drama ensemble). Taking into account further employees of the subsidiaries Staatstheater Nürnberg Service GmbH and Staatstheater Nürnberg Gastronomie GmbH as well as guests and temporary staff, around 1,000 people are employed per season. The repertoire operation offers a high productivity and versatility of the offer and the high artistic quality of the ensemble, which is continuously rehearsed with each other. A continuous performance of all sections is possible seven days a week and 325 days a year. The Staatstheater Nürnberg has around 10,000 subscribers per season, who find a wide range of attractive offers in around 30 different subscriptions. In addition, the so-called "school seat hire" ("Schulplatzmiete") has been an established model for addressing schoolchildren for 70 years. Every year, the Staatstheater Nürnberg receives around 56,000 visits from schoolchildren. The properties of the Staatstheater Nürnberg include the opera house (Opernhaus) and the theatre (Schauspielhaus) on Richard-Wagner-Platz. In addition, the Staatstheater uses office space in the Sterntor multi-storey car park as well as the decentralised theatre workshops in Nordost-Park, the central warehouse in Frankenstraße and the rehearsal stage 01 in Fürther Straße.
