The Western Cape is also home to one of the best wine-producing areas in the world, established by some of the 176 French Hugenots settling in Franschhoek in 1688: With the Rand currently at about 15:1 to the Pound, 13:1 to the Euro and 10:1 to the US Dollar, and about 8:1 to the Canadian Dollar and 7:1 to the Australian Dollar, property in South Africa is certainly a good investment.
