University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) is India's First Energy University and Asia's First Energy & Core Sector University. A statutory university established at Dehradun through an act the State Legislature of Uttarakhand in the year 2003, UPES started with a 42 acres campus christened as "Energy Acres"​ in Bidholi, Dehradun. The 'Knowledge Acres'​ Campus is located at Kandoli which is 3 km before Bidholi campus. Since its inception, UPES has emerged as a world-class institution; dedicated to developing super-specialized, ready to deploy managers and engineers for domain specific Industry. Moreover, within a very short span of time, UPES has become the "Institution of Choice"​ for students and corporates in the Energy and Core sectors. Twelve exclusive dedicated research centers are deeply engaged in exploring, discovering and understanding various aspects of core sectors in chosen domains.
