Située au sud-ouest de l'Île de Montréal sur les rives du lac Saint-Louis, la Cité de Dorval couvre un territoire de près de 21 km carrés sillonné par deux voies ferrées et quelque 120 km de voies publiques dont trois voies rapides : l'autoroute Transcanadienne (40), l'autoroute 20 et la Côte-de-Liesse (520). L'aéroport international Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau et ses infrastructures constituent le facteur dominant de son activité économique, tandis que ses parcs industriels modernes et la proximité d'autoroutes et d'artères ont contribué à y attirer de nombreuses industries axées sur la technologie de pointe.
