BAASBOX is a venture-capital-backed company that operates in the software industry for mobile apps. BAASBOX is the first Backend as a Service (BaaS) that is open source, free to download, free to use and free to modify. It is a server that provides general backend services for your mobile Apps. Recent advancements in cloud computing has caused the rise of cloud services such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Backend as a Service (BaaS) and Data as a Service (DaaS). The outbreak in the mobile applications market has created a demand for a service that provides data storage and ready to integrate features for mobile application developers which ultimately caused the rise of Backend as a Service. In this vision BaaS is a new cloud computing service offered to minimize the complexity and time taken by the app developers to build their application. The service offers hardware to host the code and software to develop the front end of the application with the backend being readily available with rich features. The most common features offered in this service are: SDKs and code samples for different operating systems; APIs library for geolocation, chat, push and email notifications, user and content management, versioning, REST API; Analytics and Metrics; Security.
