We've also been honoured with the 2022 Drinks Business Green Award ‘Ethical Award' and the 2019 Drinks Green Business Amorim Biodiversity ‘Green Award'. Our cellar team's passion for winemaking is matched by our love of growing and making good food. Most of what we serve in our farm restaurants is either grown in our Food Garden, or sourced nearby. Spier hotel is all about restfulness, with a river running through it and an inspiring collection of contemporary South African art. Nature is in charge here, and you can feel it. Our animals are properly free range, raised without antibiotics or hormones. Our organic vines, fruit and vegetables are grown without artificial pesticides or fertilisers. We've cleared alien vegetation and planted more than a million indigenous species. 100% of our waste water and more than 98% of our solid waste is recycled. We know that working regeneratively is the only way forward. The family who owns Spier also believes art has the power to transform society. We invest not only in social and environmental initiatives, but also support many working artists in South Africa through the The Spier Arts Trust. Spier has initiated and supports many social and environmental projects under our ‘Growing for Good' banner. These empower our communities to make positive change which has a ripple effect that spreads far and wide.
