CGC-Egypt is the Credit Guarantee Scheme of Egypt, responsible for enabling Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) to have access to finance from financial institutions by providing guarantee cover on their target financial facilities. CGC-Egypt is a joint-stock company established in1989. The Central Bank of Egypt is the major shareholder at 20%, along with other banks & insurance company, representing the rest of the shareholders of the company. The main aim of CGC-Egypt is to create the needed ecosystem that favors entrepreneurship, and through the application of tailored guarantee products adapts to the different financial needs of the business' growth journey. CGC-Egypt lately integrated large corporates that are of government focus due to their important contribution to the Egyptian economy. The company also incorporated among its mandate a direct interaction with MSMEs with an objective of easing their access to finance as well as enhancing their competences to be able to grow and flourish while contributing strongly to Egypt's GDP. CGC-Egypt has a clear mandate of supporting the GOE agenda, of encouraging entrepreneurship and enabling start-ups to build their own business and/or existing businesses to expand, while realizing the ambitions set for creating job opportunities. Today, CGC-Egypt is considered the strongest and most effective financial support institution in Egypt capable of enhancing the capacity of the MSMEs and advocating innovative financial products by introducing innovative guarantee models.
