We are a multi-disciplinary practice established in 1978. Our building & quantity surveyors, civil & structural engineers and architects operate across the UK from 10 offices in Rutland, London, Exeter, Nottingham, Reading, North Wales, Chester, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle. We also have home workers in Scotland & Wales and provide a true nationwide service to our clients. Our teams specialise in solving complex building, construction and property issues for commercial and private clients, the public sector and the insurance claims market. We are proud to hold an LR ISO 9001 certified Quality Managed System and we are Investors in People Platinum. Throughout the 1980s we earned a reputation as subsidence experts which led to contracts from major insurers and loss adjusters and we began to diversify by employing building surveyors. In 1999 Smithers Purslow was selected to be one of eight regional firms providing subsidence services to Royal and Sun Alliance and this gradually led to work for insurer clients nationwide. From this base we have been able to secure general perils work for insurers covering the likes of fires, floods and also liability claims. We are now seen as one of the ‘go to' practices in the UK that can provide independent professional expertise on challenging building losses and complicated liability matters. We service projects from regional offices throughout the UK. In Oct 2019 Smithers Purslow acquired northern based practice Byrom Clark Roberts increasing our national presence and adding further services and skills to our firm. Due to demand for cost consultancy, in summer 2020, we established a working partnership with Leicestershire Quantity Surveying Practice, RJA with them working to our systems and procedures. In Dec 2020 we completed the acquisition of Ainsley Stokes, a Chartered Building Surveying practice in Nottingham adding further expert witness experience, party wall and commercial surveying to our skillset.
