Junk Kouture - A Platform for Youth Creative Expression. Capturing the imagination of over 100,000 students to date, the Irish-born start-up was formed in 2010 and aims to empower young people with its primary offering, a Recycled Fashion Competition for students aged 13-18 years old. Aspiring artists, budding designers and engineers are challenged to envision, design, create and model wearable haute couture styled from everyday junk. Incorporating elements of sustainability, fashion, art, design, engineering and performing arts, a Junk Kouture creation can be inspired by anything; but the golden rule is that the outfit must be made from 100% recycled materials. More than just a competition, Junk Kouture is a community, where like-minded young adults can come together in a celebration of their creativity and drive to find a sustainable future for our planet. By providing this welcoming and inspiring platform for artistic talent, passionate creatives and the future changemakers can show the world what they've got! After 10 incredible years, Junk Kouture is expanding and going global with a 10-year ambition to enrich and empower the lives of a billion young people through creativity and sustainability. Junk Kouture's World Tour will build momentum over the next three years. Beginning in September 2021, the initial season will take place digitally in Dublin, London, New York, Paris, Milan and Abu Dhabi with entrants from each of those countries applying for their regional competition. Further digital shows in Tokyo, Aukland, Sydney, Sao Paulo, Los Angeles, Cape Town and Singapore will be added in 2022 with a transition back to a full live tour with shows being hosted in some of the most iconic venues around the world as we return to pre-covid normality.
