Applied was established in Singapore in 1991 and has grown to be a strategic South East Asian hub covering diverse functions across manufacturing, R&D and customer support services. Applied's Asia Production Center in Singapore is also the company's largest manufacturing facility outside the United States, responsible for about half of Applied's annual production of semiconductor equipment globally. Applied is the largest contributor of output and employment for Singapore's semiconductor equipment industry. In 2019, Applied was bestowed the Distinguished Partner in Progress Award by Singapore's Economic Development Board for the company's significant economic and community contributions to Singapore.
