School District with main offices in Davenport, Iowa. The DCSD serves students in Blue Grass, Buffalo, Davenport, and Walcott, Iowa. There are 32 schools in the district: 3 high schools, 6 intermediate schools, 17 elementary schools, and 6 locations for preschool and alternative education. The DCSD is considered an urban school district. Approximately 1,286 teachers serve approximately 15,305 students. Founded in 1858 it established one of the first publicly funded high schools in the United States, the third teachers' training school and hired the first female superintendent in the country.
