SRC occupies almost the entire plot of Pulau Merlimau which has now been integrated into Jurong Island, the petrochemical hub of Singapore. Total asset investments for SRC amount to S$2.9 billion. In 1994, SRC became the first oil refinery in ASEAN to be certified ISO 9002 compliant for the whole of its manufacturing process (current certification is to ISO 9001 standard). In 1999, SRC was awarded the ISO 14001 certification for their environmental management system - making them the first in Singapore's oil refining industry to have an integrated ISO quality and environmental management system covering the refinery.
