Why keep on grading if all human judgements are comparisons? D-PAC is an online platform that uses comparative judgements for the assessment of competences. Based on pairwise comparisons of multiple assessors a performance scale can be generated in which each performance or competence is ranked according to its quality. D-PAC also allows assessors to provide individual feedback and to receive feedback on the quality of their own judgements. Research has shown promising results: D-PAC leads to reliable and valid judgements of complex competences. It is used widely in education and social profit organisations to foster competences such as writing, presenting, and reflection, and to promote professional development of assessors or HR managers. D-PAC is the result of a fruitful collaboration of Antwerp University, Ghent University and iMec.
