Amer-Sil

Membrane technology for energy storage solutions Amer-Sil is a very dynamic, mid-size industrial company, based in Luxembourg. We are specialised in Membrane Technology, historically for use in batteries. Typically, these membranes are called separators and gauntlets. They fit inside the battery and play a very important role as they directly influence performance and life. The world is our play-garden, with plants in China, India, Bangladesh and Brazil. This gives us direct exposure to new, exciting but difficult applications such as the e-Rickshaw, an electric three-wheeler you find, e.g., in India. As we are a very technical firm, the above points have given us a wealth of insight, on how to help improve our customers' products & processes (for costs, performance or life) and propose creative solutions. This has become a competitive advantage. Our philosophy is anchored to the so-called lean manufacturing. We try to breathe it daily. Our current ‘belt colour' is not too shabby but the road is never-ending of course. This includes a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement in everything we do. In India, through our partner Ketex, we also have a strong expertise in woven glass fiber composites with, e.g., applications in the automotive industry and electrical motor insulation. In 2014, Amer-Sil became independent, which has totally invigorated our old bones. Concretely, we greatly expanded our R&D since and engage in long-term R&D, a feat rare for a company our size. The quality of our R&D has been validated by FNR and Marie-Curie grants, and several patents. Recently we have come up with novel products and expanded our portfolio into battery technologies such as alkaline and Redox-Flow batteries. Amer-Sil stands for a cocktail of enthusiasm, novel ideas and ‘nothing is impossible' attitude. Our products are fascinating, with a big impact in our customer's products, and our markets cool. Indeed, energy storage is one of humanity's big challenges.
