North West Drama Services is company offering high quality training and school-based activity in the growth area of Drama. Focus on staff development and curriculum development. Our flagship project is the burgeoning "Children's Shakespeare Festivals" in partnership with the Royal Exchange Theatre, The Lowry, Oldham Coliseum, Liverpool Everyman and New Vic Theatre. The company was formed in 2009 by John Doona, after he took VR from the post of Adviser for Drama at Cheshire County Council.. We have earned a reputation as providers of high quality, engaging and compelling drama for learning experiences and performance projects across the North West and beyond. Alongside our renowned flagship project, The Children's Shakespeare Festivals, we have recently developed a history based festival model, currently marking the centenary of World War One as "The Children's Time Travel Festival". Recently our team has expanded to include a small number of hand picked drama for learning specialists in a range of fields; a "crack team" of experts in drama. As such we are very well placed to offer a programme of Drama Days at KS1, KS2 and secondary level, comprised of imaginative and compelling workshops for children and young people, as well as a wide range of bespoke drama projects and professional development for school staff. There are two associated books, published by Routledge: 'A Practical Guide to Shakespeare in the Primary Classroom' and ''Drama Lessons for the Primary School Year', both by John Doona. John sadly passed away in September 2014, following a long illness. North West Drama drew from this a renewed sense of purpose; a willingly accepted responsibility to preserve and develop his legacy. As such it is our intention to become the foremost provider of high quality drama work in the region.
