University of Kyrenia

University of Kyrenia, as the first university of Cyprus specializing on maritime and aviation studies, was established in 2013, in Kyrenia, one of the most beautiful and historical sites of Cyprus. The origins of the university, in terms of training and education, go back to 1978, when the first grounds of its sister university, the Near East University which established the first maritime faculty of Cyprus, was established. Having a solid background in maritime studies, inspired the establishment of the University of Kyrenia as an ideal model higher education institution in maritime studies. The University of Kyrenia was established in accordance with the rules and regulations of YODAK (Higher Education Council of TRNC), YOK (Higher Education Council of Turkey), the World Maritime Organization, and with the regulations and requirements of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication of Republic of Turkey. The University of Kyrenia conducts its studies in full accordance with International Convention of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping of Seafarers (STCW 95) with the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments. The university employs highly qualified and experienced staff and all the departments are equipped with the latest and most advanced equipment to carry out the maritime studies most effectively and in accordance with the objectives of the university, as well as with the principles and requirements of the international maritime institutions and foundations.
