Planalto

Planalto is a company specialised in sustainable forestry and permaculture in +2000 hectares of land, with the goal of developing systems which increase production while drawing carbon down into the soil. We aim to remove 1 million tonnes CO2 every 10-year cycle with nature-based solutions (reforestation + biochar). Also we are pioneering agroforestry systems in the tropical lowlands. Planalto has completed 650 hectares of forest plantations of logwood (Haematoxylum campechianum) which is the main source of hematoxylin. Additionally, we have set up a 360-hectare conservation area which we are enriching to provide habitats for critically endangered native species.
