TeamKART Motorsports

Team KART was started by a group of enthusiastic students at IIT Kharagpur in the year 2008. Since then, there has been a steady rise in our potential as a team. Our journey began with our first car KX-1. Though we faced many problems in the beginning, mainly in terms of financial-aid, we rose above all obstacles making our first run a grand success. In less than 2 years, we achieved the feat of competing in an international event with KX-1. We were shortlisted for the Airbus Teamwork award in Formula Student UK in 2010. We also participated in the 2011 and 2013 editions of the same event with K1 and K2 respectively. Year 2015 saw our participation in the Formula Design Challenge by JK Tyre with K2.2. We bagged 2nd position in both the Business Presentation and Cost report in this Indian event. With our 4th car K3, we took part in Formula Bharat 2017 and acquired 2nd rank in Business Presentation. We added another feather to our cap by including our first ever aerodynamic component - an underbody diffuser in our 6th car K4. We participated in Formula Bharat 2019 and cleared 3 rounds of Technical Inspection. We presented our first ever electric vehicle design at the FSEV Concept Challenge 2019, and secured 4th rank. With renewed vigour, we took up the challenge to build a vehicle within a year and participated in Formula Bharat 2020 with K5. K5 featured custom data acquisition systems and sensors. We stood 6th in Engineering Design, 2nd in Business Plan and 15th in Cost and Manufacturing and our overall ranking was 10th out of 51 teams. Next, we participated in the FSEV Challenge 2020 with a goal to better our position. We managed to put together a great fight in spite of tough competition and stood 5th out of 37 teams internationally. We also bagged 2nd place in Design and were given a special mention for the feat. We are rearing to build our 8th car, K6, which is currently in the design phase. It would be our first 10" wheeled car and would feature telemetry.
