In 2018, the volume of loans originated through smava was over $2 billion, with a total of more than $5 billion since inception. As one of the largest fintech businesses in Germany, smava employs around 600 staff with over 40 nationalities under the direction of an experienced management team with strong backgrounds in finance and technology. The company is based in Berlin. To date, highly renowned investors such as Vitruvian, Verdane Capital, Runa Capital and Earlybird have invested a total of $135 million in smava.
