Astute Consulting is providing an Operational Management Consulting service to the mining industry. We also provide a Safety Culture Assessment across any organisation. Our Safety Culture assessment is designed to measure the specific safety climate within an organisation. The method involves the use of a survey tool to conduct a quantitative and qualitative analysis to measure the safety culture/climate at that point in time. Common factors tested being Just Culture, Safety Leadership, Accountability, and Saftey Management Systems are just some that will be tested in the analysis. The purpose is to provide management with objective evidence to assist in decision making on resource allocation for the safety management system. Astute Consulting recognise that understanding the tangible benefits of change is needed. Therefore, we measure indicators such as incident rates, injury rates, and equipment damage cost at the time of the Safety Culture Assessment then at an agreed point in time in the future. We take an evidence-based approach to solving problems within the open-pit mining and drill and blast sector. This is done through audits, surveys, and analysing company data. Our auditing process is aligned with ISO 19011:2018 and focuses on auditing the D&B and Mining Management systems. Additionally, auditing the mining contractor. Our management system audit criteria are benchmarked against Australian Standards, Codes of Practices, Guidelines, and Legislation. For example, Australian Explosive Code (AEC-3) and AS 2187 to name a few. Our contractor audit not only consists of management systems, it includes the specific criteria from the contract such as equipment KPI's, production KPI's, reporting compliance, quality compliance, and cost.
