Bishop Benziger Hospital - India

Bishop Benziger Hospital, the very first private hospital of Quilon was founded by Bishop Jerome Fernandez Thuppasseril the first indigenous Bishop of the Latin Catholic Diocese of Quilon. Bishop Jerome created this hospital as a glowing tribute as well to perpetuate the memory of his most admired predecessor Bishop Aloysious Maria Benziger. As a result the first private hospital started its functioning on August 17th 1948,the date being the first death anniversary of Bishop Benziger. The proprietorship of the hospital is solely vested with the Latin Catholic Diocese of Quilon. From a humble beginning of thirteen huts, over the years Bishop Benziger Hospital had providentially transformed into the biggest multi & super specialty hospital of the vicinity. During its advancement the hospital moved forward not only by upholding the healing mission of Jesus Christ but also without compromising a bit in keeping abreast the new technological innovations in health care and maintaining the aid of the best medical manpower. The objective of the hospital was not profit making at any point of time rather whatever profit generated was returned back for further hospital development keeping in mind the larger benefit of the patient population this organization is bound to serve. The trust bestowed by the public is indeed the strength of Benziger Hospital ! Since time immemorial and till now our motto remains unchanged ‘TO LOVE IS TO SERVE' While Bishop Benziger Hospital remained as an Umbrella Organization, the following additions were done in due course: # Benziger School of Nursing-(Estd-1971) # Ozanam Eye Centre-(Estd-1979) # Bishop Benziger College of Nursing-(Estd-2004) # Community Radio Benziger-(Estd-2010) # Bishop Benziger Community Health Centres'-(Estd.2006&2019)
