University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) is India's First Energy University and Asia's First Energy & Core Sector University. UPES offers over 80 programs graduate and post graduate programs in the high growth sectors of Oil & Gas, Power, Aviation, Shipping, Automobile, Design, Public Policy, Infrastructure, Information Technology, Electronics, International Business and Logistics & Supply Chain & Legal Studies. A statutory university established at Dehradun through an act the State Legislature of Uttarakhand in the year 2003, UPES started with a 42 acres campus christened as "Energy Acres"​ in Bidholi, Dehradun. The 'Knowledge Acres'​ Campus is located at Kandoli which is 3 km before Bidholi campus. Since its inception, UPES has emerged as a world-class institution; dedicated to developing super-specialized, ready to deploy managers and engineers for domain specific Industry. UPES is committed to provide training, research, consultancy or outreach services in Energy & allied areas. Moreover, within a very short span of time, UPES has become the "Institution of Choice"​ for students and corporates in the Energy and Core sectors. UPES is pro-actively involved in research and development activities. Twelve exclusive dedicated research centers are deeply engaged in exploring, discovering and understanding various aspects of core sectors in chosen domains.
