Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) , the first major Multipurpose Integrated River Valley Project of the Country, concieved in line of TVA, come in to existence on 7th July 1948. It is a autonomous company governed by DVC Act 1948. The mission at the time of its inception was: 1. Flood Control 2. Promotion and operation scheme for irregation. 3. Water Supply for Industrial and domestic use. 4. Navigation and Drainage. 5. Generation, Transmission and distribution of Electrical Energy. 6. Promotion of afforestation and control of Soil Erosion in Valley Area. 7. Promotion of Public Health, agriculture, Industrial, economical and general wellbeing in Damodar Valley. THE VISION * To establish DVC as one of the largest power majors of Eastern India while discharging the responsibilities of its other objects adequately.
