Bergen Community College

Bergen Community College, New Jersey's largest community college, serves 31000 students at all levels of learning. Bergen is a college of choice for many of Bergen County's top students, who transfer to the nation's leading institutions. Adult learning programs, which include certificate and workforce development initiatives, complement the College's vast offerings.\\Governance\The College's 12-person Board of Trustees governs the institution. The Board provides policy and fiscal oversight, while the College's president is charged with implementing Board decisions and direction.\\Budget, Funding and Expenditures\The College's total operating budget is $110.4 million. Operating revenue is derived from numerous sources including tuition and fees, Bergen County, the State of New Jersey, student aid and grants.\\Academic Year\The College offers a flexible, accessible schedule for its students. A year-round slate of courses, including winter and summer sessions, enables students to begin (or continue) their educational advancement at their own pace – and on their own schedule.\\Faculty (as of fall 2010)\\•The College employs 999 faculty members (369 full-time; 630 adjunct).\•Of the full-time faculty, 23.6% have earned doctorate degrees.\Programs\The College maintains nearly 141 Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate\in Science (A.S.), Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) academic\programs and certificate-based programs.\\•Over the last five years, more degrees (535) have been awarded to Bergen nursing students than any other non-general program.\Degrees Awarded:\\\Foundation\\•Operates independently from the College; founded in 1982 and has received over $14 million in charitable contributions for the benefit of Bergen students who receive scholarships.\ \ \ \\\Accreditation\The College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Nine individual programs are accredited by specific associations and commissions.
