FELTWOOD is a Spanish startup that has developed an innovative process to manufacture biodegradable industrial materials from vegetal waste. THE CHALLENGE Materials like plastic take hundreds of years to degrade and pile up in nature. Only in the oceans, the ingestion of plastic waste causes the death of 100,000 marine mammals, such as whales or dolphins, per year. Research shows that at the moment there is 1 kg of plastic per every 3 kg of fish in the ocean. At this rate, in 2050 there will be more plastic than fish. THE TECHNOLOGY Using what we do not eat off lettuce, artichoke and many other agricultural residues, and through an industrial process, Feltwood materials are manufactured.
