TELE 5 offers Star Cinema, independent productions, top-class sci-fi series and extraordinary theme evenings and has a loyal and diverse following of people with a taste for the discerning, not least because of its unconventional and high-profile commissioned work. In short: TELE 5 is "Leider geil!" [unfortunately awesome] and positions itself against the mainstream. There are up to 100 first broadcasts and free TV premières a year in addition to blockbusters, Oscar®-winning masterpieces, movie classics and cinematic gems. Unrivalled is the comprehensive range of science-fiction programming available on TELE 5 – from the Star Trek series to Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica, each is a firm favorite with fans of intergalactic adventures. During the day, the channel offers exciting entertainment through the fantasy series "Hercules", "Xena" as well as "Sliders". TELE 5 has also been showing top German comedy productions since 2012: Oliver Kalkofe avenges the sins of poor TV entertainment in "Kalkofes Mattscheibe – Rekalked". In "SchleFaZ: the worst films of all time" together with Peter Rütten, the former head author on the "Harald Schmidt Show" he also presents the gems of trash film. The TV satire "Walulis sieht fern", shown on TELE 5 in 2012, picked up the prestigious Grimme award. Since then, TELE 5 has received four additional nominations not least for "bold and original programming in the entertainment field". After its foundation in the late eighties, TELE 5 was repositioned in 2005 and since then it has been going from strength to strength. Thanks to the high quality of programming, TELE 5 has enjoyed steady growth. Since 2005, TELE 5 has managed to increase its market share among the 14-49 demographic by over 200%.
