MICR encoders are specialized printers used to print symbols and characters on the bottom of paper checks that specify the checking account number, bank routing information, and transaction amount. Banks and financial institutions are the primary end users of MICR encoders as they offer a high level of security against fraud and significantly increase the speed and efficiency of processing checks.
