church of Christ - est. AD33

In Matthew chapter 16, Jesus promised to build His church on the rock...the foundation that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God. After Jesus' ascension into heaven in ~AD 33, in Acts chapter 2 the Bible describes the first gospel sermon that Peter delivered to the crowds gathered in Jerusalem. At the end of Peter's message, as recorded in Acts chapter 2, the crowd was cut to the heart, and asked what they must do to be saved. In Acts 2:38-40, Peter said: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call." (KJV-King James Version) In Acts chapter 2 and verse 41 is says "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." It was at this time that 3,000 people were added to the Lord's church. Acts 2:47 continues and says... "And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." It was at this point in history (~AD33) that the Lord (Jesus Christ) began adding people to the church. Today, those that continue to follow the teachings of Jesus and the disciples as recorded in the New Testament are also added by the Lord to His church. The church that belongs to Christ was purchased by Christ by His blood on the cross (Acts 20:28). As it says in Romans 16:16, "All the churches of Christ greet you!" We greet you today and invite you to worship and to study the Bible with us. Jesus' church is not a church that belongs to this world. Jesus himself said that His kingdom does not belong to the world (John 18:36). Jesus is the king and head over his church (Colossians 1:18) and God has made Jesus Christ head over all things to the church (Ephesians 1:22-23).
