The purpose of IGSA is to serve the 2.1k Indian graduate student population at Texas A&M University. Our mission is based on the following key objectives: 1. Advocacy- TAMU is home to around 70k+ students and is one of the biggest universities in the country based on student and campus size. It therefore becomes very important, no matter how challenging, for an organization to voice the concerns of a student population that's in the minority. IGSA strives to keep the interests of the Indian graduate students at heart and with the help of other TAMU organizations like international services for students and scholars (ISSS), graduate and professional student government (GPSG) and graduate and professional school (GPS) among others tries to advocate for campus policies concerning academic excellence, tuition, and research for and behalf of the Indian graduate student population. 2. Networking- In the modern world, it is vital for very graduate student to develop and maintain strong professional networks in their domain of expertise. IGSA through events like socials and informational webinars offers a platform for students to network with industry professionals and their experienced peers. 3. Mentoring- There is a huge transition involved in moving to a different country to pursue higher education. IGSA tries to help the incoming students get accustomed to their new environment by organizing webinars, putting them in touch with mentors from their respective departments and involving university services like international services for students and scholars (ISSS) and student health services (SHS), while at the same time addressing their concerns.
