Mount Isa, the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon and Indjilandji people is located in north-west Queensland on the banks of the Leichhardt River. With a population of approximately 21,000, it is the major service centre for the area. Mount Isa is situated on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people, today, Mount Isa City Council celebrates a wealth of talent, success and creativity in Mount Isa's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community which includes professionals, educators, artists, musicians, trades people, health workers, business owners, entrepreneurs, community leaders and many other passionate, dedicated and successful people.
