Following the acquisition by Shriro Pacific Ltd., GELEC (HK) Limited launched its name and announced its arrival as a supplier of first-class, high-quality electrical, mechanical and electronic products in July 1999. Having emerged from its former supporting role within GEC, GELEC has consolidated its position as one of Hong Kong's leading construction-based trading businesses by acquiring the Mechanical Division of DODWELL Engineering in April 2000. GELEC specializes in the sale and distribution of high-quality products for the construction and industrial markets and has five principal areas of business activity - Lamps & Lighting, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, and Building Services. GELEC is an approved supplier and contractor to many of Hong Kong's prestigious bodies including the Government of Hong Kong SAR and the Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC). GELEC products have been supplied on many high-profile infrastructure projects including the new Hong Kong Airport, the Lantau Airport Railway, the Tsing Ma Bridge and Western Harbour Tunnel in Hong Kong, the Guangzhou Metro in China, and numerous others. GELEC has also supplied lighting and ventilation systems and products for the Tseung Kwan O Extension, West Rail, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Grand Hyatt Hotel Shanghai, and the Beijing Oriental Plaza among others.
