In 1974, Sam Ross opened the first Fantastic Sams salon with the goal of creating an affordable salon experience that was accessible to everyone. In 1976, he began franchising his concept, making Fantastic Sams the first national full-service hair salon franchise in the U.S. Today, Fantastic Sams has more than 800 salons throughout North America. As for the name, the story goes that as he finished up a particularly stylish cut, the client said, "That's fantastic, Sam!" and a legacy was born! In 2012, Fantastic Sams became part of Dessange International, the premium-luxury European salon chain, headquartered in Paris, France.
