Copenhagen Metro Team is the main contractor in Denmark responsible for the civil construction of the new Cityring metro project in Copenhagen. The organization is a joint venture lead by the recent born global player Salini Impregilo that actually combines the experiences of two experienced and consolidated construction companies: Salini and Impregilo. The Cityring consists of two single tracks in a twin tunnel each approximately 15,5 km in length and includes 17 underground stations with island platforms, and 5 construction and ventilation shafts. The new metro line shall be a system fully independent from the existing metro (line M1 and M2) in Copenhagen, but it will cross them in 2 different station, Kongens Nytorv and Frederiksberg. Cityringen shall operate 24 hours/7 days a week with a planned operational headway of approximately 100 sec. during rush hours, in the first years of operation. Cityringen is expected to serve up to 240.000 passengers per day or 72 miollion passengers per year. Transfer facilities will be provided connecting to the existing regional- and S-train railway stations at København H station, at Østerport station and at Nørrebro station. Where possible, the stations shall be daylight lit structures of high architectural quality. All platforms shall be provided with Platform Screen Doors and served by stairs, escalators and lifts.
