Danish Civil Protection League

The Danish Civil Protection League organizes volunteers working across emergency management organizations in Denmark. As volunteers we contribute to a safe and resilient society. The Danish Civil Protection League is a national NGO with a national management team, five regional and 63 municipal units, and we organize more than 6,000 volunteers. The volunteer organization is supported by a secretariat based in Hedehusene. We have existed since 1934 and have previously been named Danish Association for Air Defense (Dansk Luftværnsforening) and Danish Confederation for Civil Defense (Civilforsvars-Forbundet). Today, we work in three designated areas according to our agreement with the Danish Ministry of Defense. • We organize emergency management volunteers and create awareness about their contributions to the Danish emergency management. Our aim is that it should be safe, exciting and meaningful to be a volunteer. • We educate civilians to prevent accidents and become more resilient through our project BorgerBeredskabet. • We support the municipal and governmental agencies in their efforts to recruit new volunteers and part time fire workers through our project BlivBrandmandNu. We create the settings – so you can take responsibility. Our aim is to help civilians to contribute to the emergency management in Denmark. The contribution can be as participants or instructors on our courses, or as emergency management volunteers or part time fire workers.
