Q1. How does eBay charge me if the item I buy doesn't match the original promotional image?

A1. If you want to return the product, you can offer the buyer an additional refund via PayPal. The amount you will refund during the return process will only be the original price plus the original shipping cost. If it is a domestic return process, and eBay return label is automatically sent to the buyer, once the buyer uses the return label (with a collection record), the corresponding return shipping fee will be charged in your monthly bill.

Q2. What if no return is received, or the buyer returns the goods in the wrong way?

A2. If a buyer uses a return service with a tracking number and you receive an incorrect or false return item, we recommend reporting the buyer’s actions. If no tracking number is provided or if the buyer uses a return service that does not have a tracking number, please contact the buyer to confirm when you should expect to receive the returned item.

Q3. I will ask the buyer to arrange for a return label and I will be responsible for freight costs. But what if they use an expensive method of shipping which far exceeds my original cost?

A3. We suggest communicating with your buyer first and deciding on which transport method and how much it will cost before agreeing on a refund for these costs. Ensure that you have committed to paying for their returned shipping costs by actually paying these fees through PayPal and keeping records of your payment as screenshots.

Q4. What happens if the buyer misuses the return request?

A4. If you think that your buyer is abusing their right to make a return request, then it’s possible to report this to eBay’s Seller Protection Team who may step in and declare that it’s not your fault in some cases. Buyers who misuse this system may have their accounts frozen or even removed from eBay altogether, and we’ll notify you via email once we have provided you with protection.
